General Imaging’s New GE Camera Can Detect When You Blink

GE E1050 Compact Digital Camera by General Imaging

Blink detection? You mean this new GE camera can detect when a person in the photo being taken blinks? This is something new in cameras.

The new GE E1050 compact camera promises to do just that, plus a few more. It actually offers smile and blink detection (two different functions), better optics, HDTV, GPS, 5X zoom, touch screen LCD and 10 megapixels of resolution.

It’s the latest in GE’s gallant attempt at making a significant presence in the consumer camera market, despite past lackluster performance with their initial offerings.

The GE E1050’s Blink Detection feature alerts the user if the subjects are blinking, immediately after the photo is captured, allowing the photo to be retaken. A separate feature, Smile Detection, automatically detects when subjects are smiling and captures the photo at that point.

The E1050, $250 MSRP, brings to 15 the total number of cameras in the GE-branded digital camera line. The new offerings, promise bright and sharp pictures based on photos made available to the press by General Imaging.
