Fujitsu 2.5-inch HDDs Attain 300GB

Fujitsu 2.5

Fujitsu has announced the first 300GB hard disk drive in a 2.5-inch form factor. That’s the HDD size that fits in your notebook PC.

The Fujitsu 2.5” MHX2300BT series of mobile hard disk drives uses Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) technology to pack more capacity per platter.

The new Fujitsu drives are available in 250GB and 300GB versions, featuring SATA 2.5 and ATA-8 interfaces, with rotational speed of 4200RPM. They will begin shipping in Q1 2007.

According to Fujitsu the new mobile drives attain best-in-class low power consumption of 1.6W as well as high shock tolerance and near-silent operation. These qualities make the MHX2300BT series highly desirable for audio/video (A/V) applications such as gaming, video editing, audio recording and DVR functionality, as well as for the high-end personal computing market.
