Fujifilm to Tour UK Touting Face Detection Technology

Fujifilm is going all over town (well, all over the UK actually) with its Face Detection cameras, in a bid to highlight a marketing advantage in time for the Christmas season.

Their roadshow will showcase Fujifilm’s FinePix F31fd and S6500fd to trumpet their latest innovation. Face detection has been shown to work pretty well at the Photokina 2006 in Cologne and many critics have applauded it.

Face detection works by recognizing faces of people in the frame and appropriately adjusts the camera’s settings to focus and deliver the correct color. It recognizes the triangle of the two eyes and a mouth in a person’s frontal face and tells the camera that you are taking a picture of people; the LCD highlights the recognized faces with rectangles.

Fujifilm’s roadshow has already taken them to Reading, Southampton, Brighton, Croydon and Peterborough. From November 11 through December 17, they will tour Great London, Kent, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Chelmsford and Nottingham.
