Fujifilm FinePix X100 Touts Rangefinder Styling, APS-C Sensor

Fujifilm FinePix X100 Digital Camera

Fujifilm today announced the FinePix X100 digital camera, a day ahead of the opening tomorrow of Photokina 2010 in Cologne, Germany. The X100 boasts retro-style rangefinder look and feel, a Hybrid Viewfinder that can switch between optical and electronic on demand and a large APS-C CMOS sensor usually found in DSLRs.

It also features a newly developed 23mm fixed Fujinon lens which offers an equivalent 35mm focal length, good for medium wide-angle shots. The X100 is not an interchangeable lens system, so you’re basically stuck with what it can offer. But the F2 maximum opening makes it a fast lens for low light shooting and the 9-blade aperture diaphragm promises beautiful photos with soft-focus bokeh in the background.

And the built-in ND (neutral density) filter is a nice touch. You can get creative with an ND filter (think long shutter speed, silky waterfalls and intentional blur).

The X100 features 12.3 megapixels and a 2.8-inch LCD with 460k dots. It is due for commercial release early next year.
