Fujifilm Finepix S100FS Review: Get a DSLR Instead

Fujifilm Finepix S100FS Digital Camera

DPReview.com today posted their review of the Fujifilm Finepix S100FS, a DSLR-style digital camera with the convenience of a single, built-in lens offering a humungous 14.3X optical zoom (28-400mm equivalent).

“It represents an awful lot of camera for comparatively little money and one that is more flexible than a DSLR kit for the same outlay. Its feature set, including very respectable RAW performance and dynamic range optimization is impressive,” writes reviewer Richard Butler.

However, chromatic aberration (CA) is a major problem at the focal lengths that are likely to be most used, according to the review. The effect is so pronounced at times that it is visible even in small prints.

“Unfortunately, we can’t quite in all conscience highly recommend a camera with such a flaw in its image quality,” the review concludes.
