Freecom Says Its Mobile Drive XXS is Smallest, Lightest

Freecom Mobile Drive XXS

Berlin-based Freecom introduces the Mobile Drive XXS. The latest addition to the company’s mobile storage family claims to be the world’s smallest 2.5” USB-2 external hard drive, weighing in at just 155 grams.

What makes the XXS so small? Freecom says its Mobile Drive XXS utilizes the worlds first native USB interface 2.5” hard drive. Covered in a form-fitting rubber sleeve for optimal grip, the native USB removes the requirement for additional heavy casings around the hard drive & bulky components, reducing its overall weight & volume.

The Freecom Mobile Drive XXS boasts 27% reduction in size compared to its closest competitor. The company says the XXS is not just small in design but also the lightest 2.5” external hard drive in the market. The XXS is small in design but is big on storage, offering up to 320GB of mobile backup, says Freecom.

The new mobile drive is available later this month. In the UK, the XXS will be priced at £45 for the 160Gb, £60 for the 250Gb, and £80 for the 320Gb.
