Fraunhofer image analysis software

This face detection technology can tell whether a subject is a man or a woman, angry or sad, happy or puzzled. And the algorithm works so fast that even a standard PC can track mood changes live.

This new system for rapid facial analysis is being developed by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Germany.

The new image analysis software could be of interest to advertising psychologists, to gauge the reaction of people to certain advertisements. It can be used also to test the user-friendliness of computer software programs. The system could also be used to check the levels of concentration of car drivers, and many other possibilities.
