The 123 of Digital Imaging v.4.0 by Bockaert

123di.com today released Version 4 of “The 123 of Digital Imaging” interactive learning suite, covering all aspects of digital photography from selecting a camera, understanding the settings, to enhancing, storing, sharing, and printing images. The learning module is authored by Vincent Bockaert, himself a photographer and site-contributor for DPReview.com.

123di is packed with more than 3,500 interactive screen-size pages filled with thousands of full color graphics and animations organized into 145 topics in 20 chapters. The practical content is highly cross-referenced with digital photography background theory.

It is organized to cover digital imaging via a three-step workflow for the user to understand digital imaging and digital camera selection, to enhance images, and to manage, view, share and print images. It’s divided into “Starter,” “Essential” and “Advanced” sections and offers a unique navigation interface that makes it easy to find topics.

Instead of using PDF which is more optimized for printing, 123di developed its own technology specifically optimized for computer-based interaction.

It offers plenty of tips and techniques covering ten key imaging software packages like Adobe Photoshop Album 2, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, 3, 4 & 5, Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, & CS2, and Nikon Capture 4.4 & Capture NX 1.1.

It’s quite an impressive body of work; Vincent has clearly done a good job here and DPReview’s Phil Askey highly recommends it. I downloaded and viewed the free demo and I’d recommend it too. It’s something you can really use.
