DPReview on Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM Lens: Pricey But Sharp

Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM Lens

The folks at DPReview.com have posted their report on the Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM standard lens which can autofocus on the Nikon D40/40x/60 entry-level DSLRs. Their verdict: it’s a sharp lens with class-leading image quality, low vignetting, fast autofocus with full manual override and very good quality.

Its price at $500, however, might make you think twice. But is it worth $500? You bet. Reviewer Andy Westlake suggests to wait a little while for its price to drop to the level of other similar lenses (this Sigma 50mm is still very much at the start of its product cycle – it was introduced at $730, MSRP), “then it will be quite simply a steal.”

The Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens is available for Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony and of course the Sigma mounts.
