Cranberry DiamonDisc Claims It Can Store Photos for 1000 Years

Remember ‘Gold’ DVDs? They failed. Now comes “Diamond’ disc which claim to be able to store your photos and files for one thousand years!

The Cranberry DiamonDisc claims just that: a 1000-year data storage solution, discs that can last a millennium. We’ll have to test that claim after a thousand years, but here’s what the company says now:

“Unlike conventional recordable DVDs and CDs, the Cranberry DiamonDisc has no adhesive layers, dye layer or reflective layer to deteriorate – thereby avoiding the “data rot” that quickly corrodes all recordable DVDs. The transparent Cranberry DiamonDisc can withstand prolonged temperatures extending up to 176 degrees Fahrenheit as well as UV rays that would destroy conventional DVD disks.”

And it’s quite cheap: $30 each. A diamond for 30 bucks?
