Casio EX-V7 Specs Say It Rocks, Review Says It Sux

Casio Exilim EX-V7 Compact Digital Camera

The Casio Exilim EX-V7 slim camera has its very own website now. The company highlights the EX-V7 because of what it claims to be extra ordinary features of the camera.

The number one feature that caught me eye is its vaunted 4x CCD shift image stabilization system. Casio says you can shoot clear and steady images (still photos and video) even when dancing. Oh, that rocks.

Then there’s the 7x optical zoom, which by any measure can really be called a high-zoom as Casio claims. Add its 7.2 megapixels and its MPEG-4 H.264/AVC video capabilities and you should have a real winner.

But our friends over at DigitalCameraInfo.com are not very impressed. Emily Raymond’s first impression with the EX-V7 is that it “sounds a little too cool for what it actually is.” The zoom lens does not provide nice, sharp pictures and the shutter speed and aperture ranges are quite disappointing.

So, look at the EX-V7 website and look for reviews too. Take in the marketing hype and digest it with some real world testing. It’s your call.
