Canon Upgrades Its A-series Digicams

Canon A710 IS

Canon has announced 3 new upgrades to its A-series of digital cameras: the A710 IS (7.1MP, $399.99), A640 (10MP, $399.99) and A630 (8MP, $299.99).

The A-series digital cameras are aimed at point-and-shoot photographers transitioning from film cameras. They offer 20 scene settings, as well as full auto, program, manual, shutter-priority and aperture-priority settings. All 3 models can record VGA movies with sound at 30 frames per second, and use the new SDHC memory cards which can handle up to 4GB. They all also have 2.5-inch CCD monitors.

The A710 IS, A640 and A630 will be available in October.
