Canon PowerShot A480, the A470’s Mini-Me

Canon PowerShot A480 Compact Digital Camera

The new Canon PowerShot A480 is a redesign of its A470 predecessor with ease of use as its design guide, according to Canon.

The A480 is 25% smaller than the A470, offering a simplified button layout so it’s easy to carry and easy to operate. It now has dedicated buttons for zoom, mode and playback and an improved user interface.

The 10-megapixel A480 features a 3.3x zoom, 2.5-inch LCD and Canon’s Digic III processor. It also includes consumer-friendly technologies such as face detection and motion detection. The first to detect up to nine faces in a scene to adjust focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance and the second to identify subject motion and camera-shake so the camera can optimize its ISO setting for minimum blur and maximum image quality, or so the theory goes.
