Canon Philippines Reports 22% Growth in 2008

Canon Philippines President Ramon Arteficio

Canon Philippines is reporting a 22% growth in sales and profitability for the whole of 2008. The company reached its revenue target of P3-billion ($61.6M) last year compared to P2.4B in 2007. Half of the figure came from sales of digital SLRs, compact cameras, camcorders and copiers.

Canon Philippines President Ramon Arteficio, above photo, explained that although there are negative reports in Canon Japan, the Philippine unit “is not retrenching” (any workers) and will continuously offer consumers new products.

“Maybe we’ll grow a little slower [this year] than last year,” he said, “But we’re going to weather whatever hardship will come our way.”
