Canon Launches 5 New Products to Mark its 50th Year in Europe

Canon 50 Years in Europe

Canon is celebrating 50 years of doing business in Europe with the launch of five new products during ceremonies in Monaco.

Canon Europe unveiled the HR10 camcorder, the Powershot S5 IS bridge camera, the Digital Ixus 950 IS (a.k.a Powershot SD850 in the U.S.) compact and two new compact photo printers.

The HR10 is a high-definition camcorder that combines full 1080p imaging with the convenience of being able to record to DVD. The Canon Powershot S5 is a 12x zoom bridge camera that updates the S3 model. The Ixus 950, which updates the Ixus 800, is an 8-megapixel compact with 4x zoom and Digic III image processor.

The new pair of compact photo printers from Canon are the Selphy CP750 and its entry-level companion Selphy CP740. Both are almost exactly twins save for the bigger LCD screen for the CP750. Both can print directly from a camera or a memory card.
