Canon Introduces SX30 IS with 24-840mm Telephoto Lens

Canon SX30 IS Digital Camera

Canon USA has introduced the new PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera, billed as the world’s first point-and-shoot model to feature a 35x wide angle optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization.

The SX30 IS updates the previous SX20 IS model with that 35x zoom to offer focal lengths from a wide angle 24mm to a staggering 840mm. It features a 14.1-megapixel CCD sensor and Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor.

While the previous SX20 model used AA batteries, the SX30 now utilizes a custom-made Lithium Ion battery. Price will be $430 when the SX30 comes out this month.
