Canon Enables RAW Shooting for PowerShot SX1 IS Camera

Canon PowerShot SX1 IS Digital Camera

Owners of the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS digital camera can now enable RAW format shooting by installing a firmware update for the camera.

The RAW format allows greater control in post processing to enhance the image because it serves as a digital negative that stores more data than, say JPEG, or other image files.

The company also said that SX1 owners can download a free copy of Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software. This high-speed RAW editor lets users adjust key settings, such as white balance, exposure compensation and sharpness before conversion to JPEG.

The firmware will be available for download from mid-March. PowerShot SX1 IS owners should check web.canon.jp/imaging/BeBit-e.html for information and availability.
