Canon Advisory: More Cameras Used Sony’s Defective Sensors

Canon has updated a previous advisory concerning some of their camera models which used CCD image sensors supplied by Sony. The affected models, Canon said, may now be eligible for free service regardless of warranty status, should any malfunction be caused by the CCD sensor.

This comes in the heels of Sony’s own admission recently that indeed they had released some defective image sensors to almost all camera manufacturers.

The Canon PowerShot cameras added to the advisory are the A40, A80, A85, A95, S1 IS, S60, S200, S330, S400, S410 and S500. Customers experiencing problems with any of these cameras, as well as those from last year’s advisory, are advised to call Canon Customer Support or submit an email requesting support.
