Buy The Sony Alpha A200 Now, Or Wait for The Alpha A300?

Sony Alpha A200 DSLR Camera

Cliff Smith of TrustedReviews.com says that while the Sony A200 DSLR sports the same 10.2-megapixel CCD sensor as the previous A100, in most other respects it is a completely new camera.

He ticks out the improved features of the A200:

â–º an improved Super SteadyShot stabilisation system based on a moving sensor
â–º improved Bionz image processor
â–º faster focusing
â–º faster shooting speed
â–º a new more ergonomic body

Then he goes on to examine the many other characteristics that make the A200 a good camera, giving it a rating of 9 out 10 in his in-depth look at this entry-level Sony DSLR.

Agreed. The A200 is a good camera, in fact, a very good camera. But Sony might just have sidelined it with the announcement of the A300, due to come out in April, with even better features including a very clever Quick AF Live View.

The 10.2-megapixel Alpha A300, $800 with a kit lens, could emerge as the DSLR to beat in the entry-level category with its outstanding features. It has a 14.2-megapixel twin, the $900 A350 also coming out in the spring.

But if you can’t wait for both, go ahead and buy the Alpha A200; you can’t go wrong, if we go by its rating of 9/10, according to TrustedReviews.com.
