Apple has released Aperture 1.5.4, a recommended update for current users of the imaging workflow application. Apple says it is a required update in order to integrate into the newly announced iLife ‘08.

It’s a free update; customers using any previous licensed version of Aperture can download version 1.5.4 from here.

The update includes the ability to import images directly from the most current version of iPhoto and the ability to share Aperture images with other iLife ’08 and iWork applications using the iLife Media Browser.

Apple adds that Aperture 1.5.4 now supports more than 80 RAW image formats of all camera manufacturers. Users need to download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update to add support for RAW files captured by the Canon EOS 1D Mark III, Leica M8, Nikon D40x, and other new camera models from Fuji, Leica, and Panasonic.
