Apple Fortifies MacBook Pro with 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, Adds Multi-Touch

Apple has released beefed up models of the MacBook Pro notebook line featuring up to 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with up to 4GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory. The updated MacBook Pro also offers up to 300GB hard drives and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with up to 512MB of video memory.

Another notable feature is the addition of the Multi-Touch trackpad which debuted with the Apple iTouch and reiterated in the MacBook Air. This innovative trackpad allows the user to use his fingers to pinch, swipe, or rotate to enlarge text, advance through photos, or adjust an image.

The MacBook Pro has an illuminated keyboard that makes it ideal for dimly lit environments such as airplanes, studios or conference halls. It also has a built-in ambient light sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the keys as well as the brightness of the display for optimal visibility.

The updated MacBook Pro is available now in configurations that start at $1,999; Apple has also refreshed the MacBook line with prices that start at $1,099.
