Adobe Systems Inc has released new versions of Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Converter software. The updates can now be downloaded from their website, free for licensed users of the applications.

The new versions add support for Raw files from five new cameras manufactured by Nikon, Olympus and Panasonic. In full, the list of newly supported cameras in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.5, Adobe Camera Raw 5.5 and Adobe DNG Converter 5.5 is as follows: Nikon D300s, Nikon D3000, Olympus E-P1, Panasonic DMC-FZ35 and Panasonic DMC-GF1.

The new releases of Lightroom and Camera Raw also include a couple of bug fixes. Adobe Camera Raw 5.5 fixes an issue with the Bayer demosaicing algorithms when working with certain Olympus, Panasonic and Sony cameras that exhibited an unequal green-channel response. Adobe says the corrected algorithm offers “a subtle visual improvement” when processing Raw files from these cameras.

Lightroom 2.5 includes the demosaic algorithm change, as well as one further bug fix for Windows users. When before, Lightroom happily launches automatically even if you told it not to when a memory card is detected, that issue has been fixed too.
