Planet82 will demonstrate the capabilities of their Single Carrier Modulation Photo Detector (SMPD) technology, an advanced type of image sensors that enable photography in the dark, at the CES 2007 in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11.

The company claims these imaging sensors are 2000 times more sensitive to light, which means cameras including those used in camera phones and car sensors can see and take photos in near total darkness; no distortion, no delay, and no flash necessary.

Whoa, they’re talking cutting edge technology here. Let’s see how this pans out. Check out their RSVP schedule at CES if you wish to join the 15-minute demo.
