Your Canon Pixma Printer May Print Directly on CD/DVD

Canon Pixma Printer

There’s a post by Ron Risman over at CameraTown.com describing the steps necessary to modify your Canon Pixma Printer to print directly on compact discs and DVD media.

This capability has actually been available to Canon Pixma users in Europe but disabled in the U.S. due to some potential copyright issues.

The fix involves software mostly, but you’ll also have to buy a Canon CD tray which costs anywhere from $16 to $20 on eBay. There’s a specific tray for different models and Ron also enumerates which models can be modified for this fairly simple process.
