Yashica was a Japanese camera company which had its heyday when your daddy was young. It was bought by Kyocera in 1983 and was told to stop making cameras in 2005.
On All Souls Day, November 2, 2007, it came back from the dead and showed a few promising compact cameras (digital, this time) at the Imaging Expo Singapore.
The Yashica AV1400-HD, pictured above, reflects the company’s glorious years, proudly showing the company label up front, as it updates its imaging prowess with a 14-megapixel image sensor. No pricing yet on this model but the camera is expected to be available in Singapore in December.
There were two other Yashica cameras spotted at the expo, the 8.2MP EZ8032 and the 7.2MP EZ7033 shooters which looked like the rest of today’s compacts.
