XS Drive Center VP6250

At Photokina this week, XS Drive Ltd. will introduce their XS Drive Center VP6250, a multimedia storage and backup device for photographers.

It accepts all types of memory cards: Compactflash, Hitachi Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, and xD picture cards (Smartmedia, miniSD, mini MMC require an adapter). For storage, it uses a 2.5-inch hard drive that range in capacity from 40GB to 120GB. Transferring files to and from a computer is done via its high speed USB 2.0 interface.

It also has a built-in 3.6-inch color LCD screen for viewing stored pictures and movies. The XS Drive Center VP6250 supports JPEG, MPEG4 and Motion JPEG video files, plus MP3 and AAC audio files. RAW files compatibility driver are under development and may be downloadable later from the company’s web site.

In Europe, the basic version of the XS-Drive Centre VP6250 40GB sells for €399 including VAT ($500), and the high capacity VP6250 120 GB version has a list price of €499 including VAT ($640).
