XDepth Raw Promises Completeness of Raw, Lightness of JPEG

We need Raw files because it contains a lot more data for us to tweak our photos to perfection; unfortunately, Raw files are just too big for most of us. Plus, you need a Raw converter for a computer to read Raw files. For this reason, we use JPEG files because they are smaller and they can be downloaded and opened with just about any browser or email client, but they also contain a lot less data.

Xdepth Raw promises the best of both worlds: Raw’s depth of data and JPEG’s small size and readability. Trellis Management Co. Ltd. explains that Xdepth Raw can be opened and viewed in any computer without the need for a Raw converter. Using the Xdepth Raw software, however, will open the image as a Raw file, tweakable to your heart’s content. In short, Xdepth Raw can function both as JPEG and Raw.

The company said XDepth Raw employs a proprietary technology able to literally restore the original fine details found in the uncompressed Raw picture at high bit depths without sacrificing visual quality.
