Wattage of the foam core softbox

On this page > http://www.studiolighting.net/foam-core-homemade-softbox/, you give directions for making a softbox out of foam core board and fabric.

What is the wattage of the light you used?

Can other light sources be used and what wattage would you recommend?

Do you think it would be helpful to line the box with aluminum foil?

Thanks,

Robin

    Robin,

I used a 1000 watt Starlite bulb made by Photoflex. I had used a 500 watt bulb before that for some time. They gave off plenty of light and heat as well.

Other light sources could certainly be used in a box like this. If you are sticking with continuous lights, I would not recommend going below 500 watts as a large softbox would likely absorb too much of the light making it difficult to get adequate light for exposure.

Also, aluminum foil would certainly be a good addition to the inside of the box. Especially if you are looking for a "harder" light with more contrast.
