In all, there were a total of 34 new cameras introduced today, true to the adage “when it rains, it pours.†This is of course a prelude to the upcoming PMA 08, the Photo Marketing Association’s trade expo kicking off on Thursday next week, January 31 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Canon unleashed 5 new cameras: the EOS Rebel XSi DSLR and 4 Powershots, A590 IS, A580, A470 and the SD1100 IS.
Fujifilm announced a total of 7 FinePix models: S8100fd, S1000 FS, Z100fd, F100fd, J10, J50 and the Z20fd.
Olympus fired off 8 new models in its Stylus range: the SP-570 UZ, 1030 SW, 1020, 1010, 840, FE-350, FE-340 and the FE-310.
Sony had 7 new Cyber-shot introductions: DSC-H10, DSC-S780, DSC-S750, DSC-T300, DSC-W170, DSC-W150 and DSC-W130 while Pentax rolled out two new DSLRs, the K20D and K200D, plus 4 more Optios, the M50, S12, E50 and A40.
Of course, Samsung would not be left behind; it previewed the new GX-20, which is veritably the K20D’s twin brother.
So there, 34 new cameras in all in one breath-taking day when it rained cameras all over the place.
