ThruVision Camera Sees Through Clothing, Decently

ThruVision Ltd. has announced the T5000 security imaging technology that can “see” explosives, liquids, narcotics, weapons, plastics and ceramics hidden under clothing from 25 meters away.

The only commercially available camera of its kind in the world, the T5000 can image both metallic and non-metallic threat objects hidden under clothing on still or moving subjects without revealing any body detail.

The T5000 will be unveiled at the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB) Exhibition in the UK on March 12 & 13, 2008. But already, the portable camera has been sold to the Dubai Mercantile Exchange and Canary Wharf in London.

The new security imaging technology utilizes terahertz rays or T-rays, not the usual X-rays used by current systems which could be harmful. T-ray is a form of low level electromagnetic radiation emitted by all people and objects.

While it can see through clothing and detect threatening objects, the T5000 can only see a silhouette of the human form, no surface anatomical features are visible (It’s not for peeps, dude!)
