Book publisher Rocky Nook today released a new book, The Photograph: Composition and Color Design by Harald Mante, geared for the serious intermediate and advanced photographer who strives to create outstanding images.

Professor Mante, who was born in Berlin in 1936 (he’s 71), taught Photographic Design at Dortmund Polytechnic and at the European Art Academy in Trier, Germany’s oldest city, and has authored many art books and textbooks. He is an internationally recognized master of photography.

In this book, Prof. Mante explains the elements that are essential to achieving the highest level of visual design in photographs. He explores the principles of line, shape, color, contrast, composition, and design in significantly greater depth and at a higher level than most any book available to date. He also covers a number of techniques to enhance expressiveness in a photograph to support the photographer’s intentions.
