A study in Germany concludes that the pen tablet is kinder to your hand than a computer mouse.
People who spend hours on the computer everyday are prone to repetitive strain injury (RSI), some people call it ‘mouse arm.’
A study titled “RSI prevention through change in Pointing Devices†was conducted at the Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany and concluded that the pen tablet is a more ergonomic input device and recommends that computer users should work with one more frequently in order to prevent RSI.
The study, under the direction of clinical psychologist professor Dr. Hardo Sorgatz, was carried out over a three-month period with 60 test subjects.
Photoshop users and graphics artists of course have known this all along. It’s more natural to use a pen. Besides, drawing with a mouse is like drawing with a bar of soap.
