The American Writers & Artists Inc. has published a concise guide, The Beginner’s Guide to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and it’s downloadable as a free booklet in PDF form.

It’s quite useful if you’re a novice photographer trying to dig in to Lightroom and Photoshop and wondering when to use one or the other.

The writers, professional photographers Shelly Perry and Rich Wagner, describe their own experiences with both applications as they go about their workflow. Shelley, who wrote most of it, describes the difference between Photoshop and Lightroom and how they apply to photographs one has taken.

The topics covered in the 33-page guide are:

• The Difference between Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom
• How to Copyright Your Photos in Photoshop and Lightroom… and Why Its Important to Know How
• Sorting Your Photos in Lightroom
• Using Layers in Photoshop to Spot Color Black-and-White Photos
• Adjusting Levels and Curves in Photoshop
• Correcting Over-Exposed Photos in Photoshop
• Adjusting Color Casts and Tones in Photoshop
• How to Remove Logos from your Photos and Sell them as Stock
