Tamron SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro Lens

Tamron has introduced the SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) MACRO, another high-end lens with built-in focusing motor for the Nikon mount, specifically the popular entry-level D60/D40x/D40 series. It is also compatible with full-size FX DSLR cameras.

The new lens delivers a 35mm-equivalent focal length range from 109mm to 310mm ultra telephoto using APS-C sized cameras.

Tamron boasts of its lightweight construction. The SP AF70-200mm has a minimum focus distance of 0.95m over the entire zoom range for a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at 200mm. The new lens is constructed with 18 elements in 13 groups and utilizes 9 diaphragm blades.

The SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) MACRO is also available in mounts for for Canon, Pentax and Sony. This lens, along with the SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO and the AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC, will be launched on May 30 in Tokyo, Japan. Expect the prices of these lenses to be also announced on that date.
