Tamron Bares Winners of 2008 User Photo Contest, Calls for 2009 Entries

John O’Bryan of Moscow, Idaho has emerged as Grand Prize winner of the Tamron 2008 User Photo Contest: “Wet & Wild,” besting 1,500 other entries in the competition.

The contest was open to U.S. residents submitting any original photograph that prominently included water and that was taken with a Tamron lens. For his photo, above, John got the award-winning Tamron AF28-300mm VC zoom lens; his photos will also be showcased in the Tamron Viewfinder e-newsletter as well as in the Gallery section of the Tamron website.

New for 2008 was a People’s Choice award, won by Donald Handley, for getting the highest combination of top-rating and views in the gallery. In addition, twenty photographers whose images were selected as “Favorites” will also be published on the Tamron website gallery and Tamron’s Fan Page on Facebook.

The 2009 edition of the contest will have the theme: Americana – Photographs That Define American Culture. Top prize for next year is a a Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro zoom lens.
