Taiwan’s Foxconn to Make 15.4” Macbooks for Apple

Apple Foxconn

Taipei-based Foxconn Electronics will manufacture 15.4-inch Macbook computers for Apple for the first time, breaking the monopoly of another Taiwanese firm – Asustek – on the lucrative Apple contract.

Foxconn will commence production of the new Macs in May 2007 and will start volume shipments towards the end of that year; consequently, Apple’s orders from Asustek will dwindle by about a third.

Foxconn is also grabbing order shares from Asustek in another front. Reports say Foxconn will start delivering Play Station 3 (PS3) game consoles to Sony in February 2007.
