Sony Micro Vault USB Sticks Up to 8GB Now

Sony 8GB USB Stick

The Sony MICRO VAULT ‘Midi’ range has been available for a while now with capacities of 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB. Next month, Sony is coming out with an 8GB USB stick in the series, in their bid to offer their customers bigger storage capacities. But of course, Transcend and a few others have already leapfrogged ahead of them with their own 16GB sticks that feature some kind of security options.

But Sony seems unperturbed by this and has already prepped its 8GB flash drive for prime time. Sony sticks tout their pre-installed Virtual Expander2 compression software that allows users to store up to 3 times more data (hey, that becomes 24GB theoretically), and a retractable slide-out USB connector.

No price yet on the 8GB Micro Vault, but if their $55 1GB stick is any indication, expect to pay north of $400 for that, in Sony’s high-priced fashion.

Heck, in my neck of the woods, we can buy a 1GB USB stick for just $22; nothing fancy, just good old usability. Check out CDR-King.
