Slovak Lucia Nimcova Wins 2008 Leica Oskar Barnack Award

The Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2008 has been awarded to photographer Lucia Nimcova for her “Unofficial” photo project depicting how time seems to have stood still in her native Slovakia since the fall of the Communist regime.

The Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2008 will be presented at the Arles photo festival in France from July 8-13, 2008.

The jury of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2008 was chaired by François Hébel (Rencontres d’Arles). Further jury members were Dr. Andreas Kaufmann (CEO Leica Camera AG), Karin Rehn-Kaufmann (Director of the Leica Gallery in Salzburg), Brigitte Schaller (Leica Fotografie International) and Gaëlle Gouinguené (Leica Camera Group).
