Sigma Announces New Zoom Lens For Digital SLRs

Sigma Corporation has announced the launch of its new APO 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC HSM lens, especially designed for digital SLR cameras with APS-C size image sensors and destined for the Canon, Nikon and Sigma lens mounts.

This lens on a 1.5x crop digital SLR (such as the Nikon D80) would provide an equivalent FOV of 75 to 225 mm. The APO 50-100mm F2.8 EX DC HSM promises high image quality throughout the entire zoom range by providing excellent correction for flare, ghosting and all types of aberrations.

The announcement from Sigma lists these features:

  • Compact and lightweight
  • Incorporation of the very latest optical technology
  • Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements are used for utmost correction of chromatic aberrations.
  • Equipped with HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) with full-time manual focus override.
