Sharp Develops Super Thin LCD for Mobile Phones & Cameras

Sharp Super Thin LCD for Mobile Phones & Cameras

Sharp has developed what it claims to be the industry’s thinnest 2.2-inch LCD at only 0.68mm thick.

The new super-thin LCD was developed for use in mobile phones and digital cameras that aim for slim and small designs. Sharp calls it the Mobile Advanced Super View LCD and is based on proprietary Sharp fabrication techniques for thin LCDs, in particular, glass substrate and backlight technologies.

Sharp says the new Mobile Advanced Super View LCD delivers superior image quality approaching that of an LCD TV thanks to a high contrast ratio of 2000:1, wide viewing angle of 176°, and fast response speed of 8ms, which are among the highest levels in the industry.

The new display is being exhibited today at FPD International 2007 in Pacifico Yokohama which runs until tomorrow, October 26.
