Can you scan 2,000 photos yourself? Yikes, that could take forever, if you could finish at all without your arms giving up first. That’s why there’s ScanMyPhotos.com, launched by California-based photo retailer 30 Minute Photos Etc. They’ll do it for you for $100.

“From Shoebox To CD,” that’s their slogan, because they’ll scan all the pictures you could fit in one shoebox. You ship them your shoeboxful of photos, then they digitize your pictures one by one using Kodak hi-speed photo scanners to batch scan the images. The photos are then saved onto DVDs as 4×6 sized images at 300dpi, approximately 1.5 or 2 megapixels each, and sent back to the customer without additional return fees. All in a day’s work.

Haven’t they lost a box yet? The company says each box is marked with a tracking number and no, they haven’t lost a box yet. “You will lose your photos if you don’t send them to us,” the company president said.
