SanDisk has released its 8-Gigabyte Sansa e280 flash-based media player. It plays audio, video and photo slideshows.
The company said the 8GB device sports a microSD expansion slot allowing expansion to 10GB of music – or 2,500 songs – with an optional SanDisk 2GB microSD card, making it the largest capacity flash-based MP3 player on the market.
The Sansa e280 includes an open (non-proprietary) digital rights management system that allows users to purchase songs or access subscription download services from various sources. It also features a digital FM tuner with on-the-fly FM recording capability, and a voice recorder with a built-in microphone.
The Sansa e280 is priced at about $250. With its release, prices of the current 2, 4 and 6GB Sansa mp3 players have also been reduced.
