The Samsung GX-20 DSLR, twin to the Pentax K20D, was announced today, boasting intelligent design and a comprehensive lens offering.
The GX-20 differs very slightly with the K20D in manner of styling and menu presentation, but basically the two are one and the same camera. At the heart of its construction is the 14.6-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor co-designed with Pentax and manufactured by Samsung.
And that’s the intelligent design Samsung is trumpeting, the upgraded CMOS sensor that works in tandem with an Enhanced Digital Filter which the company says allows greater dynamic range of exposures, useful later in post-capture editing to add various effects or to compensate for missing pixels.
As to its “comprehensive lens offering,†Samsung is also releasing two new lenses with the GX-20: the 18-55mm II F3.5-F5.6 and 18-250mm F3.5-F6.3 lenses that are also compatible with the previous GX-10 model.
DPReview.com got hold of a sample unit of the Samsung GX-20 and posted a brief hands-on review of the new DSLR camera.
