Samsung launched three new cameras today and one of them is the ultra-compact L83T, boasting 8 megapixels, an NV lens and a 2.5-inch display.
It is also equipped with what Samsung calls its Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR) image stabilization system to minimize blur due to shaky hands. Add to that the L83T’s high ISO of up to 1600 and you should have sharp pictures. In theory, that is; we’ll have to wait what the labs say about its true image quality.
The new camera can shoot up to seven pictures per second, according to Samsung. That’s a good burst speed if you ask me, but Sammy doesn’t say at what resolution settings that 7pics/sec is possible.
Two more superlatives that the L83T claims: a ‘super macro function’ that can shoot at 1cm (!) and maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 sec (that should be able to capture a speeding bullet).
The two other cameras released by Samsung today were the plain Janes L830 and L730, 8- and 7-megapixels respectively. The new cameras are priced at about $280 for the L83T, $230 for L830 and $190 for the L730.
