Samsung Electronics will show its own e-paper display at the 45th annual Society for Display (SID) 2007 to be held in Long Beach, CA on May 22-24.
It will be the largest (A4-sized/14.3-inch diagonal) color “electronic paper,†similar in size to LG.Philips (A4/14.1-inch diagonal) e-paper introduced last week.
The Samsung e-paper is also a plastic, flexible display that can deliver undistorted color images even when the surface is bent. It uses a 130°C low-temperature amorphous (non-crystalline) silicon processing to prevent distortion of the plastic substrate. Even when the power is off, the e-paper continues to show a static image.
But the stars of the Samsung exhibit at SID 2007 will be its latest LCD screens. The company will be exhibiting their 40†LCD TV with LED backlight which has garnered this year’s SID Gold Award for Display of the Year, and a 70-inch 120Hz full-HD LCD, the largest LCD TV panel for mass production.
