Samsung claims it’s the thinnest 8-megapixel CMOS camera module available today, measuring in at 28×15.3×8.5mm. The tiny camera module is designed to be used in mobile camera phones, supplanting the 5MP variety in use today.
The camera phone module features what Samsung calls the Low Light Trio of technologies: ISO 1600 light sensitivity, anti-shake function and noise reduction. Plus, it sports the equivalent of an F2.6 fast lens to be able to take sharp photos even in low light conditions.
Samsung said they will begin to ship samples of the 8MP module to camera phone makers this May.
