Royal Photographic Society Opens 150th Annual International Print Exhibition in London

Harry Borden's Baroness Thatcher

UK’s Royal Photographic Society has opened its 150th Annual International Print Exhibition in London. It’s a remarkable feat; these chaps have been doing it for 150 years!

The print exhibit features the winning photos from a competition conducted by the RPS. The contest, which was open to members and non-members of the society, drew a record 2,200 entries from 600 photographers worldwide.

A final selection of 125 prints is on display now at the print exhibition. The Gold prize went to Richard Merritt’s photo of a scalloped hammerhead shark, while Alan Shawcross’ photo of Prince Charles won Silver. Harry Borden’s ‘Baroness Thatcher’ (pictured above) won Bronze.

New this year is the “Under 25 Years Section,” Gold medal for which was won by 19-year-old Chris Charnock for his print ‘Exploited.’

The Exhibition will be on display in Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell, London until 6th July. After that, it will go on tour around the United Kingdom, with venues in West Midlands, Bath, Plymouth, Gloucester and Doncaster.
