Research Says Original HP Inks Better

A new study shows that photos printed with refilled ink cartridges can fade significantly in less than two months, while prints made with original HP inks and photo papers last far longer.

The study was done by independent testing firm Wilhelm Imaging Research (WIR) to compare the permanence of refilled ink cartridges and photo papers available in the European market with original HP photo inks and papers.

The study, which was commissioned by HP, showed that photographs printed with original HP ink had a WIR permanence rating of 73 years, while the best of the refills registered only 1.2 years.
