Pre-PMA: Sony Pops 7 New Cameras

New Cameras from Sony

Sony announced seven new cameras today, a week ahead of PMA 2007. The cameras include three models in the Cyber-shot W-series, two in the T-series and another two in the H-series.

Topping the list of Sony’s new cameras is the $400 Cyber-shot W200, billed as the most compact 12-megapixel camera in the industry. It is followed by the 8-megapixel DSC-W90 unit ($300) and the 7.2-megapixel DSC-W80 model ($250).

The slim and stylish new T-models are the DSC-T100 ($400) and DSC-T20 ($330) for fashionistas who could use the cameras’ new face detection technology.

The new DSC-H9 ($480) and DSC-H7 ($400) models are SLR-style cameras with big zooms. They feature Sony’s new advanced sports shooting mode, which combines high shutter speed shooting and intelligent continuous auto-focusing. The cameras can quickly focus on fast-moving subjects by predicting where those subjects will be in the frame.
