PopPhoto.com Compares 5 Entry Level DSLRs

Among the current top 5 entry-level DSLRs, the Canon EOS 450D (Rebel XSi) ranks number 1 in image quality, the Nikon D60 ranks number 2. The Sony Alpha 350 ranks number 1 in ease of use and control, but falls to the bottom at number 5 in terms of image quality. The Olympus E-520 and Pentax K200D are also-rans.

At least, that’s how PopPhoto.com sees it, as they compare the five top cameras in their DSLR shootout.

Dan Richards reports that the Canon EOS Rebel XSi, Nikon D60, Olympus E-520, Pentax K200D, and Sony Alpha 350 are midlevel marvels among affordable DSLRs, but have their important differences.

Dan writes, “They’re not perfect, to be sure: All have plastic bodies, not designed for really heavy-duty use, and they rely on menus for many controls. Still, on balance they are excellent values.”
